Labor Champion Asa Trammell Will Be Missed
It is with the great sadness that I am notifying you that Asa G. Trammell, past President of the Alabama AFL-CIO, passed away Monday, January 7, 2008.
Brother Trammell served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Alabama AFL-CIO from 1963 through October 1983 and was elected President at the 1983 convention and served through 1993 when he resigned to become Labor Commissioner of the State of Alabama. He served as Labor Commissioner until January 1995. He was also the recipient of the 2001 Labor Hall of Fame Award for the Alabama Organized Labor Awards Foundation.
Graveside services will be held 1:00pm, Friday, January 11, 2008 at Memory Hill Gardens Cemetery & Mausoleum, 2200 Skyland Boulevard East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405. Their telephone number is (205) 556-6182
